What is Ocóyái?
Ocoyai is a lighthouse in the jungle — a steady light for those navigating the dark.
We are a retreat center, a healing sanctuary, and a sustainable Indigenous Nutabe community rooted in ancestral medicine and sacred reciprocity.
For those overwhelmed by modern life, numbed by trauma, or unsure where to turn — we offer something different:
A place to slow down, reconnect with the Earth, and remember who you are beneath the noise.
Here, healing doesn’t come through escape — it comes through presence, through community, and through ceremony guided by elders and the wisdom of the land.
Why We Exist
The world is fractured. So many are carrying invisible wounds — from war, from family, from a culture that forgot its soul.
We believe the way forward is a return.
A return to the Earth.
To ceremony.
To truth, humility, and sacred responsibility.
At Ocoyai, we hold space for that return — for veterans, for seekers, for all who are ready to remember who they are.
What “Ocoyai” Means
Ocoyai means Water Jaguar — the spirit guardian of the river, of transformation, and of the unseen.
In the forest, the jaguar moves between worlds — protector of medicine, master of shadow.
Water is the mother, the purifier, the giver of life.
Together, they speak to our deepest purpose:
To hold a space where healing flows like water, and truth walks like the jaguar — strong, silent, and sacred.
